I have been harboring thoughts on that volcano set up that they show in the movie "Finding Nemo" and I would love to find one probably without all the lights but natural looking. But for some reason everywhere I look doesn't carry them, doesn't have them, or never heard of anyone that did. Online or offline it is driving me nuts.

I am thinking about creating one myself with a clean 16 ounce soda bottle, some rocks and silicone that I have left from when I reglued my 55 gallon tank. If anyone has any ideas or a site that may be able to help I would be most grateful.

I also want to make a cave type covering for my Oscar, he didn't fit into the tree trunk he has in his tank right now and doesn't seem to like the light when he is resting. Might use the same kind of set up with creating something for him ... not sure yet, but like I said above any ideas would be helpful to say the least.

I do not want to harm the fish in my tanks nor hinder them at all.

Thanks in advance, sandi

Apparently you can buy this one online, but it's kind cheesy!

i would just run the airline tubing up through the soda bottle or whatever you use and then fit an airstone to the end. attach the airstone using silacone to the side wall of the bottle just under "the lip" of your volcano.
for the cave for the oscar, you could use pvc piping or a large flowerpot and cover the outside with rocks and plants and the such also using silacone to achieve this. both would be simple to make

If you want LOTS of bubbles, you could coil a bubble curtain in it.

Sounds like a cool endeavor. Post a pic when you are done. If you make it look nice, i might be tempted to make one of my own.

Why not find someone in your area that has access to clay and a kiln and have them make one for you. I can't believe it would be overly hard to construct.

should be easy enough to make

ok.. so make something volcano-ish in shape. I like the idea to coil the bubble curtain. for the finishing touch try to find a submersible red LED light and put it in the volcano.. it would look totally sweet at night!!

Why couldn't you use one of those clay flower pots, glue stones to it, and just run an airline thru the gravel and up under it? Sounds pretty easy to me. You could also get one of the round bubbles and use that inside the pot.

i had bubbles coming up a tree trunk with a red led light, and yes, it does look amazing at night, but i had to cut it bc i went heavily planted.

A multi color fade/change LED in red/orange/yellow might step it up abit.
As one color fades another gets briter.

I too love the nemo volcano and am looking for one. I've seen the ones on ebay and don't really like them.

I want one that doesn't let air out all the time, but erupts air occasionally.

Did anyone ever make a homemade one?

My son would be saying....

"SWEEEEEET"

He still does not get the idea that Nemo can not live in his freshwater aquarium. lol I know..I know..I am trying to explain it to him.
