Can vibrations harm fish?

If you had music playing in the same room as a fish tank could you stress the fish?

And when I say playing music I mean loud?

Chances are, yes, it would stress the fish making them more vulnerable to sickness and disease.

Is it more the bass or the treble at the higher decibles that would be the problem?

Bass is more likely to shake the tank, stressing the fish out.

Be careful. We had a party at our place where the music was very very very loucd (specifically the bass) and my american's were very very aggro. They were splashing around a lot and they were actually having a go at each other.

Once the music was turned down they calmed, it took a couple of hours - but I've learnt my lesson.

I was thinking of putting the tank in the pool room (pool table, cocktail bar, big stero) I dont think I will now.

I reckon playing relaxed music alters reality into a relaxed vibe more, and hence the fish will intuitively feel this, and they will relax.

If your playing angry/aggressive music, or electrohouse stuff, they will also feel this.

And yes, the physical vibrations will also cause them to alter :ezpi_wink1:

What about kitchen appliances.

I have my new tank about 3/4 meters away from my washing machine. It can get quite loud but only for short bursts.

I haven't got any fish in it yet (cycling)

Will this stress my fish????

What about vibrations caused by the washing machine???
