Is something wrong? My betta (in a 6g by himself) has starting swimming around all flared up...at nothing..? He has never done this before -- so unless he just discovered his reflection in the acrylic tank, I have no idea what's up.

Ideas?

Does he have a bubble nest? Sometimes my betta flares around under his nest, like he thinks their might be a female around. I've never had a female in the house, but he seems optimistic that it's going to happen.

Mine flares at his reflection if I have certain lights on or off in my bedroom. I'm not sure what the combination is between the wall sconce, table lamp, or desk lamp, but he goes nuts some nights.

I have a screw in compact flourecent bulb in my 5 gallon hex and the betta housed in the starts to flare up when I have his light on the tank on.

as soon as I shut it off, WHAM hes back to normal, so I have been calling it the betta switch, when I turn it on he goes crazy again, I would leave it off if I could....stupid plants.

chances are...it is hormones acting up...and if there is a bubblenest around chances are he's looking around for a lady...and hoping.
