Has anyone seen a 500+ gallon tank in a house?

yes. Infact they are more common than you think. A very good friend of mine, that i used to work for, has a 900 gallon fish tank in his living room. He puts bass, catfish, and crappie in it that he catches. And if you go to cichlidforums.com, you will find a lady who custom built her own 1700 gallon saltwater blacktip shark tank.

Sadly, unless i start having bowl movements of gold and or diamonds, i will never be able to afford such a tank.

Passing gold nuggets would be far easier than passing chicken Mcnuggets, if you catch my drift:ezpi_wink1:

i think if you had a tank that large, you wouldn't really have money "issues" because if you weren't really wealthy, you probably wouldn't start-up a tank that big in the first place.

I've seen 1500 gallon aquarium with a full grown red tail catfish in it. It's so big, you might be tempted to go for a swim in it!, thatis, until the catfish attacks you

You could set it up like a river and put half a dozen flathead catfish in it and go noodling (Where you stick your hand in dark holes underwater in a river. When a catfish bites your hand, your grab it and pull it up. ) HMMMMMMMM if only

what about having a stream flowing into a pond but all set up in a tank, eg tank is a cross section of the pond.

The tank will need to be very deep, 1.5 m or so but the water level would not go up to the top, you could even have a cut out in the tank. Would need to be at lease 6m long. Heaps of big rocks on the bottom, mounted into a wall, with a massive filter with a high flow rate, so you can keep the stream flowing...

mmm
Would look good.

I wonder how much it would cost...
my guess AU$10000

the beautifulest thing about that huge of a tank would be that you are able to allow the fish to get to their potential and allow certain types of fish to breed that are harder to breed , i have a friend whos got a friend who started out with sharks , he had a 300 gallon tank , then went to a 500 , to 1000 then he built a huge ass 1500gallon enclosure inside his basement that housed his sharks ....and i heard he would even swim with his sharks on occasion! i have not seen this , yet my friend ray can attest to it. if you are a fish lover that has got to be paradise!!! theres nothing more beautifuL!:luxlove:
