I've been using the Hikari Cichlid Bio Gold (thanks to reptilguy) and my oscar's HITH has stopped worsening - it's only a small hole. I have actually found a place here that I can purchase metronidazole tablets from. Would anyone recommend using them? My oscar is in a tank with a synspilum & pleco so I'm not too sure how it would affect them (& I've run out of hospital tanks).

Try it, it won't hurt. Hikari/Aquarium Solutions makes a powdered metro medication called Metro+, but as long as there is metro in it it should work.

Great, I might look at giving the tabs a go. My oscr's HITH hasn't worsened but it hasn't healed, though he's looking healthier. thumbs2:

Awesome article, thanks for that - I'm going to actually try what she's done to see if it works. I've got my pleco and synspilum in the oscar tank, I was worried about the new medication on them but obviously it's been fine for her. They're pretty hardy fish, I'll just keep an eye on them.
VERY APPRECIATED!!:11:
