Male beta ???

My sons beta fireball has a white ?? on his head .I don't know if its a wound or fungus.We changed the tank around last night and there is a new rock and a piece of driftwood .
He shares the tank with an apple snail and cardinal tetras.


I hope the pic shows it clear enough?
Any suggestion on what meds?

The water tested great 0 ammonia,Very low nitrates and nitrites.
I have moved him to a 2gal. hospital tank. He started to go white around the gills and belly,his fins are white around the edges and his body is beginning to pale out.
