No - I did not score a giant tank for free... lol
A couple months ago I was psyched to find a 15g slate bottom stainless steel tank. I have a 2.5g with matching stainless top and I LOVE how it looks. Today I found a stainless hood to fit the 15 gallon!!! These things are so hard to come by, what are the odds?? It even has a flourescent fixture in it... but I want this tank to be a "real" planted tank so I'll probably be messing with DIY lighting under it... dunno yet, got lots of time to figure it out as I have space to really set it up, lol I LOVE shiny stainless steel!!

Two words, bling bling!
Nice! That is a smooth looking tank.
OMG! I haven't seen one of those in more than 20 years. Have you leak tested it yet? Often, unfortunately, those tanks leak.
I used to have a 10 gal, 15 gal and a 5 gal Stainless slate bottom. God knows why I got rid of them. And bonus to find a light too!!! Awesome!

When I went to pick up the 15g it was full of water and rosy reds, so yes it does hold water (yay!) I used to have a 29 that I foolishly tried to re-seal with silicone and it started leaking out the bottom a few months later... had to give up on it as one of the sides also cracked and we were moving and it just didnt make sense to keep it anymore. My 2.5 stainless tank has been set up for a couple years now with no leaks, and it's super cute :1luvu:

I love those old tanks and would love to find them in my area even if I had to strip them all the way down to reseal them it would be worth it.

I found an amazing deal on Craigslist too, a 29 gal tank with protein skimmer and RO system for $350 when everything is worth about $700.
