When i had my barramundi i kept them in heated water in clear storage containers made of plastic, my question was if i could get a 200 litre/55gal Storage container, with the measurements of 45cmX45cmX90cm Could i heat it and keep an oscar in it?

What would you be keeping him in a storage container for? Temporarily? or long term?

more then likely only until i get a glass tank, but i was just curious what would happen if i kept him in there permanetly?

In my opinion it might be possible to keep him healthy in such a set up, but as for happy, I have to doubt it if he can't see what is going on around him. Our oscars can see out all sides of the tank, and can see 2 different rooms so there is always something for them to be looking at and they seem to like it.

oh, the plastic is very clear, he would undoubtadly see everything as if he were in a normal tank only difference is its plastic

do you think it could hold that ammount of water permenently? Doesnt plastic weaken with age? To be honest I know squat about plastics.

well if you see the plastic is looking weaker you could always buy another storage bin. Depending on how long they last you could save money and alot of it.

I don't see how a fish could be happy in a plastic box. I would be concerned that something might even be in the plastic that could cause him hard. I used one of those boxes when I just moved my tank but would not consider it for more than a few hours. Much too small for an Oscar, too.

I agree with kimmers. Sure you could keep him healthy...Maybe, but as for him being happy, probably not.

You'd be much better off with a glass tank
