Did you boil or soak them?
Did they come from an area with mining going on?I have uranium mines near here.Thankfully my fish haven't started to glow in the dark yet!Although I wouldn't need my nightlite.:hmm3grin2orange:

Yea, I never boil stone, just soak it in warm water in the sun.
Boiling can turn a rock into a frag grenade.
Yeah if you do boil them be free to post in my Worst injury thread
lol
and clean them once or twice to make sure they are fine..

Wet rocks can explode when heated when the water inside them boils and can't escape fast enough.
If you just dip dry rocks in boiling water for a few seconds to kill the nasty stuff on the outside you should be fine.
Scrub all the dirt and junk off first though.

NEVER, EVER boil rocks! Sure, it may be a one in a hundred chance, or even one in a thousand, but eventually you'll be boiling a rock and it will turn into a pipe bomb! These things can come apart with enough force to remove eyes and limbs. I'm not sure how doing it outside on a grill would make it any better... Think about it, you're placing a potential pipe bomb a couple of feet from a pressurized propane cylinder. If that rock goes and a piece punctures that tank (which they could easily do), your neighbors are going to have to sue your next of kin for the damages to their houses. I've seen what can happen when a heated rock lets go (in this case it was a camp fire, not boiling that did it). Suffice it to say that it was lucky no one died that day, but one young man's life (and eyesight) will never fully recover. DON'T BOIL ROCKS, EVER EVER EVER!
