So, I have been searching everywhere for a good deal ona 75-100g tank for me to move my ever growing pleco into and all I seemed to find were things like 100 for 55g tank, 150 for 75g tank etc etc. So I sent an email to my grandma telling her to keep an eye out for a cheap large aquarium for me when she was garage sale shopping and guess what!! Her and her sister found a 100g tank for $5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FIVE DOLLARS!!! OMG w00t!!!!!!!!!!! I am soooooooo excited! I am a college student so I was getting bummed out because I can't afford to buy a 75g for 150 dollars along with all its equipment and I was afraid I would have to give Hoover (the pleco) back to the pet store. BUT MY GRANDMA IS AMAZING!! lol and now its all better. Just thought I would spread my excitement to the world. Thanks for listening!!

Make darn sure the seals hold water before using it (or just replace the seals to be sure)
Either they were really dumb, or there's something wrong with it -- or at least that's what I would assume

Wow, that's great! I hope it works perfectly for you!
I agree with Holyvision on this--make really darn sure the seals are tight!

i had thought of that. My grandma didn't mention any cracks so hopefully they just don't want fish anymore or something
Should I go ahead and just replace the seals? How do I do that?
Honestly I'd start by carefully inspecting the tank. Check the corners and the edges around the bottom on the inside. See if the silicone is loose anywhere. Re-sealing an aquarium simply involves removing the seams of silicone and replacing it with new, aquarium-safe silicone (GE 1 works well and is cheaper than the dedicated silicone the aquarium manufacturers sell).

Awesome. For that great of a price I would just re-seal it anyways. Better be safe than sorry.

Nice deal ,
I got a 2nd hand tank recently, i filled it up outside (or in a shed)for at least 24 hours, couple of days might be better, to see did it hold the water.
Good luck, I hope it all works out for you.

just run your finger on the seal, if it feels cracked or crumbly replace it

Where are you going to keep it?

That's a good deal. I always find the tank to be the cheap part though. A stand and the other necessary hardware is what drives the cost up. Hope it all works out for you.

lol i can't have it here at my dorm so I've convinced my mom to let me keep it there.
