Is $180 a reasonable price to pay for a black arrowana (in the U.S.)? The fish is 8 inches long.

That not to bad. You might be able to find it cheaper. But anything between 150-200$ is to be consider normall.

You can get smaller specimens much cheaper. Small specimens of around 1 inch can be found for 30$

Once I saw one(it wasn't a black one) for $10.99.

I had a Silver Arowana last week (he commited suicde a few hours after he got in the tank) - he was on sale for a hundred bucks plus tax.


BE AWARE: They are jumpers and can get out of SMALL spots in the tank - I know FIRST HAND last Saturday!

That was him in this photo - he was about 6 or 7 inches long - they do get HUGE (slowly)!!

Silver arowana of about 6-8" is about $ 20 to 25 in my place ( Rs.800 to 1000) and pearl of the same size is priced at $32.5 to 37.5 ( Rs. 1300 to 1500)........
