Weird goby fish thingy

today, i went boating with the whole family, what i always do at the boat ramp while my parents are launching/taking out the boat, is fish in the rocks by one of the docks. What i used are some size 14 hooks( about 4mm from the tip to the main shaft) and tiny chunks of shrimp, i caught some baby mangrove snapper and a few weird goby-like fish. i've caught these goby-like fish lots of times and they can be anywhere from 2 1/2" (like what i caught today) to about 6". my dad and i used to think they were baby grouper untill today(he still thinks their baby grouper). but, today i discovered that they have the suction cup thingys on their chest, just like my cousin's dragon goby. are suction cups unique to gobies? My dad says he'll put money on the fact that they are baby grouper, if i can prove they are not, that can go towards my new tank i'm working towards!!! i'll try to get a pic of one online

Could they be Sculpin?

no, i just looked it up, they look very similar though but sculpin don't have the suction cup like the dragon goby and the ones i caught

If it's freshwater, they are 'round gobies'... they invaded the great lakes in the early 90s and have multiplied like crazy. We're supposed to kill them if we catch them.

sorry ive been gone for so long but hey, that round goby looks strikingly familiar to the fish i caught but i beilieve that mine were'nt as slender

Probably a well fed round goby.

its main body looks very similar but the fins arent clear they had the speckled pattern too but i am sure they are not just well fed rond gobies
