I have a goldfish tank that is kept at room temperature (varies throughout the year from 65-75 degrees). Would a BN do okay in there? Was in my LFS today and they had a BN in their goldfish tanks. Seems like an interesting tankmate if they'll get along.
Web sites seem divided - anyone kept a BN at cooler temperatures?

My mom keep my common pleco in a goldfish tank for years, then in a small fish bowl for about a month. Neither had a heater, the bowl did not even have a filter. I am not saying that she was right in doing this or anything, but he is fine, never had any problems at all.
They're tropical fish. They need tropical temps to thrive and live to their potential.

I fell thet the 10 degree flucuation in temperature is more of the threat to either extremes. If you could stabalise the temperature at a moderate range for both pleco and goldfish then do that.
in summary, I would invest in a heater first. and maintain a temp of 76
