but thanks for reading and possibly giving some info....

I have a few questions regarding what is termed *dwarf gouramis*...
1. What are their average size as adults...
2. are the different colours all variations on the same species...
3. MUST the female be removed after spawning has taken place..
4. What size tank would suite a pair??......

thanks in advance...

I'm not 100% sure if this is fully accurate, but from what I know...

1. Average adult size tends to be around 6cm
2. I think most dwarf gouramis are colour variations of Colisa Lalia, but there's also Colisa Chuna and Colisa Labiosa (which may also have colour variations).
3. Never tried breeding them so can't be 100% sure. I've read that for breeding they should be transferred first to a shallow tank, then the female removed after spawning back to the main tank.
4. I have a pair in a 60L tank but I would recommend going a bit larger if possible, the male can sometimes be a little aggressive even when not breeding.

1.) i agree
2.) I'm not to sure about scientific names of these little guys, I know common names of a few though:
honey, licorice, cholocolate, sparkiling blue eye(VERY small), and sunset
3.) I have a breeding pair of sunset's and well, they breed the male catches the eggs and tosses them up in the duckweed 2% or the time. The other 98% he just swallows them, I think he feels as if the female is his own personal food dispensor or something. But I would actually remove both parents.
4.) I have mine (just two) in a 20 long and hes right the male is a handful. The longer footprint helps I wouldn't put them in a 20 standard even.
