Looking at upgrading my computer with these parts. Didn't want to go overboard on everything and i feel like i found a good compromise on the stuff.

Haven't decided on a Videocard yet and don't plan on it for a little while as mine should be okay for now.

Already have a 450w power supply.
need to get another hard drive though...trying my hardest not to get the 1TB since i've had 120g for 4 years now and it's been fine.

Best advice I can give you on your parts is to go to [Only Registered Users Can See Links.] they have the best prices hands down on your parts.

The stuff i picked out is pretty low. 2 of the items have huge mail in rebates.
I watch Slickdeals.net all the time for something good but haven't see much lately other then maybe the memory.

Thats why i don't have a hard drive listed because i think i can wait a few weeks for a good deal on one.

Looks like it all should make for a pretty nice set up! I'm especially lovin the CPU cooler :18: lol. I'm sure you're going to go with the SATA drives right? You can also check [Only Registered Users Can See Links.] they have good deals most of the time and ship quickly.

I picked these items in the thought that i would be overclocking. But having not done much of that i'm wary about these components.

I'm not a fan of overclocking myself, the gain just doesn't seem to justify the time spent/potential problems. What makes you weary of the components otherwise?

I bought lower Mz processors and and easy to overclock motherboard. CPU is 2.53mz but i could easily get a 3+ if i didn't want to coverclock much.

I think it should be okay. I'm not going to go crazy with the clocking and will play it more conservative.

Well here it is. Can't get my sound to work but i'll figure that out tomorrow. Might have to reinstall windows or something. But the thing booted right up and we went straight to coverclocking.

got the normaly 2.53Mz up to 3.15mz without increasing the voltage. I'm not very knowledgeable in getting farther by increasing voltage...

I'd wait another few months, december will roll around and there will be more sales online and in store. Easier to find a deal then. slicksdeals is a good site, fatwallet as well, bunch of others. Oh keep checking out frys.com if you're in the states, they have pretty good deals on 1tb drives every few weeks. And rebates bleh, I've had fairly good luck with them, keep backups and be ready to fax them in and keep an eye on when they should be sent in and when you get your cash. I've had to resend info more than once.

Hmm I think microcenter had a deal on ram not too long ago, might be worth checking out their site.

Looking sweet man! Loving the lights. My wife wants to rebuild our office dektop soon. Should be fun! No sound from the soundcard eh? You sure it's not just a bad card? Happened to me a few years back. You tried updated drivers from the manufacturers site? What version of windows are you running?

no soundcard. but i can't even get the motherboard sound to work.

Tried updating drivers up it keeps failing and when i uninstall the old motherboard stuff it won't let me.

I think i'll try and update to SP3 and if that doesn't work reinstall windows.

This is going to sound silly when I write it but it has worked for me on several occasions the last being a week ago. Same issue with no sounds being played. Go into windows sounds and change the current sound scheme to any other at all. Apply it and then revert back to the default scheme, it should prompt you to save it with a new name. Just type whatever and then try your sound again. Provided everything is hooked up properly this has worked for me. Good luck and let us know how it works out either way. I'm always interested to see what solutions work for people.

I think i've decided NOT to get a new videocard until i know i need one. I'm on the hunt for a new HDTV right now and i'd rather put my money towards that which i know i'll get my use out of.

Spending money on a card right now when all i'd do is wait for a game to come out months from now and maybe still not need it doesn't seem logical...but neither does a 47in 1080P TV in my room:27:

What video card do you have in there right now?
