2 upside down cats
4 phantom tetras....

just got 2 x sucking loach but am a bit concerned of there compatability when they get a little older n bigger.....

Looking to get a candy striped plec when the tank has run for a little while longer..

Anyone got any suggestions on new additions and about the sucking loach?

HEY...

nice to be here!
whats your opinion on the fish then?
especially the loach?

cool. that's about 47 us gallons roughly. i would take the sucking loach back as they can get to be up to 11 inches depending on the variety. that really is too small of a tank for him. also, he will grow aggressive toward the other fish and more territorial in the tank, creating problems. if you want bottom feeders, you could get a variety of corydoras (cories) or otto cats. both remain small throughout their life cycle. otto cats, additionally, are in my opinion, some of the best algae eaters you can get-a plus! what type of aquarium do you have exactly? (hexagon, cylinder, etc... what filtration? is your tank fully cycled/ established? the candy striped plecostomas you probably could get away with because, if i remember correctly, they remain small as well. (someone please correst me on this if i'm wrong)

thats the aquarium i have...everything came with it as a full set up but its supposed to be a good one for the community tank that i want to get in the end.
point tanken re the sucking loach...will try re home him after only one day!
bad purchase there i believe!
will the pleco be ok with the upside down cats....only ever catch a glimpse of them when they move from one bit of bog wood to the other!

thanks!
now for my next question....i have seen somewhere online where i can get a syphon that has an attachment to clean the gravel and then one to fix to the tap therefore not having to use buckets etc to fill the tank back up, i live in an apartment so this would be very usefull!!!
....does anyone know where i can get one of there bearing in mind i live in the uk?

it's called the python no spill clean and fill gravel vac system.
here's a link to what it is-- [Only Registered Users Can See Links.]
i looked it up. apparently, this store is located in the u.k. they carry the python. just click the link and scroll down! --jeff **they are great by the way. many people here, including myself, use them exclusively

Hi im from the uk also, i found the vac's in my local fish shop for cleanning gravel. I live in a house but when i vac the tank i push a peace of hose pipe on the end and let it siphon out the front door. Maybe you could do that to your bath? I also have jewl aqaruims a rio 180 and rio 300, they are good tanks with good simple filters. You should'nt have any problems.

hey,

no bath unfortunatly....managing to do it at the moment using a normal vac....its such a good feeling when you have finished cleaning and the tank shines...well worth the effort!
what would you reccomend i add to my set up then as you know how much space i would have left?

From what i have been reading tonight it seems asif both or at least one of my guppys is pregnant.....all i can say is that when looking at her i can see a dark black patch towards the back near the start of her tail....can anyone shed any light on this and confirm my suspicions?

cheers

The Python is great for removing water but I would recommend filling with buckets ( clean one dedicated to the fish tank ) No soap! The reason is you need to add declorinator ( water conditioners ) and it is not advisable to put water that may have clorine directly from the tap into your fishtank. At the very lest you could kill some beneficial bacteria.

Back me up on this Jeff....
