I think my Clownloach have ick, what's the best way of curing him? I've heard that ick can die if you pour some aquarium salt into the water, but do you think the loach will survive salt? How much salt can I add to a 40 G aquarium? The rest of the clownloaches have showed no signs of ick (yet). It's a planted aquairum but the plants are the sturdy and inexpensive kind so I think they will survive salt. My main concern is for the clown loach, since he's already weakend by the parasite.

Clown loaches are sensitive to salt so a better options is to by an ich medicne such as rid-ich+.

You can also try increasing the temperature in the aquarium to cure the ich. read Ich: An Old Cure for an Old Disease (http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/universal-viewid114.html) for more info about other biological ways to fight ich.

Increase temp slowly to 86. Be careful of meds containing dye as Botia are scaleless fish.
