I have been on another fish forum for a while now. And here recently the people on there are being VERY rude. They are making me want to get out of everything because of them being so rude. I had a parakeet, and he recently got killed by my boyfriends sisters cat. I told them I was very upset over it and someone pops up telling me I need to grow up and stop putting all my love or whatever into my animals. I thought that was rather harsh. I don't think I am going to be getting anymore animals because of people like that.

You shouldn't let other peeps tell you what to feel and just ignore stupid comments like that....

I'm another big animal lover... I'd rather spend all my time with animals instead of humans :hmm3grin2orange:

You know, some people have a lot of love of animals of all kinds and some people are just hard-nosed and just plain don't care. They don't care about animals, themselves or even their fellow man, frankly. They make remarks thinking they are funny but they are not.

We've had a few crackpots in here, as well, that talk about frying their fish for dinner or when someone has a problem will say "who cares. It's only a fish". Unfortunately, all forums get jerks and they have to be weeded out so good people don't leave or get their feelings hurt, as you did.

Never give up what you love because of some snot who hasn't got the brains he was born with.

Sorry about your bird. Same thing happened to my parakeet. It was also killed by a ^%$(*$ CAT.

I am so sorry to hear about your parakeet.

There is nothing wrong with getting attached to pets.. well if there is join the club!! :hmm3grin2orange:

Seriously though don't give it up because of one person on a forum probably on the other side ofthe world. I think you should stick with your animals. There should be more people in the world who care about their animals just like you.

Thanks guys. I don't know what his problem is. I think he thinks he knows everything just because he is a staff member or something. I might just start coming here instead of there. I already PMd a mod and asked them if they would delete my account.

Seriously, you really need to grow up and understand not to place your emotions into your pets. This bird was fine, heck, if you wanted him to have a bigger space to fly around you could have built him an aviary. But seriously this was irresponsible pet ownership. And you need to stop making excuses for yourself and to everyone here. If someone on another board said that it was ok. You should have questioned them. Sorry but everyone is an expert. Heck, if I said it was ok to take out your betta's out of the tank and watch tv with you, would you??

If you own Cats or have Cats around they will eventually Kill your bird. Sorry, i own 2 cats as it is myself. I also own animals that can harm them and vice versa. I know better to allow my animals to move around while my cats are out. They may not do anything one day but the next they will treat it as a toy.

Rule number 1. Cats and dogs will treat small animals as chew toys when ever they feel like it.
Rule number 2. You can never predict the reaction of your pets towards another animal.
Rule number 3. you can never change instinct in an animal.
Rule number 4. No matter how you try and tell yourself you can not change these rules.

See the thing is, Its just not you. I see this stupidity on other boards as well. I see Teenagers and newbie adults post pictures of there Snakes with their dogs or cats or lizards and so on. Then we always see a posting like this. My pet got killed by my dog or cat.

Since I am the new guy here, I don't have to be nice and I can point out the obvious to you what others are thinking.
This is what he said. Do you think that was very polite of him to say? And if he is the new guy, then why is he already a staff member? And I don't know why he is saying all that, but it wasn't even MY cat!

Sounds like a comment what would come from some kid. You certainly are welcome here.

Don't deprive some animal or fish from having a good mommy over some stupid remark. Sometimes, too, people can say things in print that can be easily misinterpreted. Often it's hard to put thoughts into print without them sounding differently than what you were trying to say.

OOPS.........now I just read your post. He states:

Since I am the new guy here, I don't have to be nice and I can point out the obvious to you what others are thinking. ppttffffff.......what can I say! He won't be there for long I bet.
Amazing how he figures he can speak for everyone.

sounds like he was trying to make a point, but that is a bit harsh to me

Yea, but like I said, it wasn't my cat, so how would I have known? And all I was trying to do is get some sympathy from them to make me feel better and all I get is harsh remarks.

I would never let one person run me off. Snotty remarks to you will be snotty remarks to others and he will soon be outta there if it's a forum that actually cares about things like this. Some don't, however, and those that don't get after posters like that you want no part of, anyway.

This site is NOTHING at all like that site you were recently on! No one can tell you what to think, and your opinions will certainly be welcome here.

I agree, you shouldn't just leave because of those snotty remarks, but the chances are that, if the members on that site were very friendly, they wouldn't treat you and other members that way.

Yea, I agree. I don't really think it was necessary for him to be like that. I'm just not going back there because I can get better help from much nicer people here. I think I ran into someone like that here is why I didn't stay here that much, but I don't even remember what it was over! I know it wasn't over something like this though. This is way over the edge.

i had one of my budgies die that way too when we were out the cage got knocked down, one of the budgies hide behind the couch and was safe the other one not so much we didnt even know where he was when we got home but there was feathers everywhere! a lil while later the dog came over and spit out his naked lil body..poor thing..so im sure the dog and cats had fun with him....we have since gotten a bigger, heavier cage, and put it up higher and havent had any further problems..we dont have the dog anymore either..

....so dont let them bother you mistakes and accidents happen, its not like your delibrately threw the bird to the cat or something, their the ones that need to grow up!

What? You're giving up animals because some stranger in a forum said it's stupid to love animals?

Why wouldn't you just recognise that the person is an idiot and their opinion is to be ignored? Or are you agreeing with them? Is that why you're doing what they told you to?

This is why I don't go on any other fish forums.....the information and support you need is on here. I have never found another site that has such kind and knowledgable people...ever.

And I don't get how he is new, but yet he is already a staff member???? And I know he is an idiot.

And your right, Megan. I am going to stay around here from now on. I do have 1 good friend on the other forum, so I'll have to try and get him to join.

I'm sorry that someone spoke to you that way, I'm sorry that you lost a pet.
Most of all I'm sorry that you care as much as you do about someone else's opinion. Forums are great to get opinions and suggestions it is up to you on what to do with the info and how to take it. Don't let it get to you.

It is up to us all to decide which opinion is good for us and which doesn't fit our situation. Your pets are just that YOUR PETS and what you do to them and with them is YOUR business (Within your own morals, federal and state laws of course..lol ).

The point is don't let others make you do anything ,
don't let others stop you from doing anything.
When it is all said and done we each pay our own tab as individuals for what we have and haven't done: not for what others thought of us.

So here is a ballon :11:
Have a smile :hmm3grin2orange:
and come here and hang out with people who don't get off on being mean to others...:hmm3grin2orange:
We are happy to have you here...:19:

Remember everything you say in a thread is kinda permanant. You have 15 mins to decide to change it or not. After that it is permanant. However, think about it this way. Somone might want to quit keeping fish and not be as brave as you were to actually say it. They might search in the forums and see your thread and see how you changed your mind and it might help them too. That is the good thing about threads & Forums you can search them for answers.:hmm3grin2orange:
