A week ago I bought a bunch of cambodas/fanworts for my tank. just now I can see roots coming out of the plant, but they are coming out in the middle of the or the top of the plant, rather than near the botom.
Does this mean I have to cut the stem just bemow where the roots are developing and replant, or do I just leave it alone?

Hey Ed, I couldn't find much but from what I've read the stem of Fanwort becomes brittle after the growing season and breaks apart to propagate itself.
Nothing was mentioned about little roots forming further up the stem but perhaps this happens in preparation of the stem breaking? I'd wait and see what happens, maybe cut and replant some and leave some others as a little experiment.

Ed-
I've got ludwigia and camboda and I've noticed roots growing from and between the nodes on both also, more so on the camboda. From what I've read, most stem plants either grow roots, a separate branch, or another stems/leaves from the nodes. To propagate stem plants, cut just above the node and replant the top stem.

What I did with my ludwigia when it started growing roots in the middle was what you are thinking, cut below the roots and replant. Or, you can just let it grow out that way. I’ve just left my ludwigia alone until the plant got tall enough to trim, usually to the water surface, and then I trimmed and replanted the portion where the roots were already established.
