Another article regarding using aquarium salt. Interesting especially if you have tetra's.

Interesting.... I am using salt and have both Cardinal tetras and Hatchet fish, both are doing well. This is how the aquarium was set up before I received it and I continued the use, I have not supplemented it much with water changes though and may add some in the next water change, I plan to use a lesser concentration than was used by my stepfather.

Any idea what the reckomended dose per gallon is?

Mine recommends 1 T per 10 gallons. Other brands recommend 1 T per 5 gallons so check your container. More is recommended for treatment.

Mine is recommended 1 tsp per 5 gallons... I dont go that high in concentration though, I don't know if they need it or whether it even helps, I would like to think it emulates the natural environment and helps keep them safe but I'm too green to know for sure.

Ok thanks, i keep japanese koi carp also and salt in there i use at 1/2 oz per gallon. Did'nt know if was the same or not.
