gouramis are one of my favourite fish. i Have had several differant species, though not all in the same tank.
I am looking to purchase a planted 70 - 75 litres and I would like to put mainly smaller species of gourami in it, dwarf , honey etc.
would this be a good idea in the past my gourami have always acted friendly to other fish though this may be the fact that there were no other same/deiffrant species of gourami in the tank at the time.
do you thin a community of differant small species of gourami would be a foolish idea or do you think it is viable ?
thanks in advance

I do. I keep a few gouramis in a 75 liter tank and they have never showed any signs of aggresion.

The Pearl gourami is probably the prettiest one but I also like the powder blue dwarfs OK. The larger gourami's can be a pain with all the chasing and aggression and will stress dwarfs out. The Blue (3-spot) is particularly aggressive as are the Golds which are the same but a different color variation. I also had Moonlights which got about 5 inches but once again, too much aggression and I gave them all away.
You will hold down aggression even with dwarfs by getting all males.

In my 65 gal I have 1 dwarf gourami, 1 honey dwarf gourami, 5 sparkling gourami mixed in with various tetras, cory, pleco and a betta. Haven't seen any aggression issues. Mostly my sparkling piss others off by being too darn curious. You should be fine as long as you make sure you have plenty of decor and hidey holes for everyone to feel they have a safe place if needed.

My blue is actually not aggressive at all. He hangs out with his tankmates in some kind of weird friendship. I think i just have some weird fish... lol

A gourami tank would no doubt be beautiful. I was searching around and found one called a licorice gourami

They look amazing, but I don't know if you'd be able to find one in a fish store. You may have to order from online if they're hard to find.
