what if any brackish fish will work out in a ten gallon?
A bumble bee goby would work.

livebearers would work...they originate in brackish water...although we keep them in fresh water where they do splendidly...just recondition them again slowly and they would be fine...esp sailfiin mollies should do well.

Mollies cannot fit in a ten gallon tank as they usually reach 3-4 inches.

10g is about 38L ... so 4 inch fish (10cm) is too big for such a small tank.
Platies will do well in low salinity brackish tanks, and the aforementionned bumblebee gobies.
I also beleive that there are a few rainbowfish that are brackish ... no sure which ones though.

I think "FW" flounder get too big for a 10 gal.
Bumblebees, guppies, a couple Australian desert gobies maybe...
I think Indian ricefish are brackish. They're small. I've also heard of brackish killifish and rainbows. Those would probably work.
Instead of (or perhaps in addition to) fish, you can go with inverts. Nerite snails do well and even require brackish or saltwater to breed. Ghost shrimp would work. Make sure the tank isn't overstocked though. Inverts add to the bioload the same way fish do.
With such restrictions, it might be nice to fill space with something that won't necessarily add to the bioload. There are many plants that can live in brackish water. Just make sure the SG doesn't get too high. At an SG of 1.010, I've done fine wit Java fern, Java moss, Vallisneria, and banana plants. Anubius is also said to be tolerant of brackish water.

Oops. I didn't see that it was old. The post before mine was pretty recent.
Sorry. If the person who started this thread is still looking for info though, it's there.
