Pardon my greeting but am new to all this.... Confused how to treat 5 & 10 gln tanks for worms (small white threadlike)--NOT on freshwater fish themselves. Assumed parasites & pet store had me get QuickCure, treated 2 days but got worse. Then told might be snail eggs/larvae (both tanks have snails) or leeches & treat w/CopperSafe after removing ALL gravel, etc. Haven't done that yet & not sure what to do. If snails & no danger to fish, I'd rather wait & remove manually later. Goldfish in 10, Guppies in 5 with 1-wk-old fry so don't want to stress them out even further or mess up newly cycled tanks.

It sounds to me like it could be planaria, which are often found when you're overfeeding. I wouldn't try treatments for them as they're not harmful, but regular water changes + gravel vac should help (I'm not sure what your water changes at the moment are like)

:c12: Callain's right on spot...try doing siphoning every four or three days....reduce the feed to fishes.....and gold fishes in 10 G is not advisable....try to shif them to a bigger tank as every single goldfish needs about 10G as they are very messy....general thumb rule being 20G for the first gold fish and 10G thereafter....

Goldfish get huge and as stated above need much more room. But I would vac that gravel very well, do regular water changes and feed much less. Only give a pinch of food and when that's eaten, give a pinch more.
