Heya, I've got 2 cold freshwater gold fish.

Ones called Boris (The fat one), and the other is Helen of Troy (the dark goldern one)

Im trying to find out what species they are, I foolishly forgot to remember them after i left the aquarium supplier.

Here are some pics:

Also, I've got a question. I bought a tank for $89 it's a simple glass tank that fits 80-90Litre in it. Im wondering if anyones had any problems with cheap glass tanks, Im worried it might flood my room if it doesnt hold up. The silicon looks pretty sturdy, but im paranoid. Can anyone please set my mind at ease?

As long as the tank is not abused (dropped, banged around, etc.) it should be fine.

Helen is an oranda with a (so far) small wen (cap on head) and the other is a ryukin. For just the two you need a 30 gallon minimum (120L). Lots of filtration, high quality food (preferably sinking to prevent swim bladder disease), and lots of water changes.

Well I think I can my max is 90litres, and I could instantly tell they kinda wanted more space, but they'll have to get used to it.

I run high filtration, 3 filters during the day.

And i feed them basic goldfish flakes, is this food sufficient?

P.s - Any advice on plants, and other goldfish to add to the equation?

Thanks guys, id be lost without you all :)

I think you will need a larger tank for more gold fish!
try to feed the gold fish a variety of foods. the sinking goldfish crumbles are good.
It is said that goldfish will eat the plants but having plenty of experience with them, they will only munch on a few leaves.

Well my fish are babies at the moment, they're smallish. I wouldve thought you could still put a variety of small gold fish in there...

I've seen schools of little tropical fish in a 50ltr tank... Those neon guys

i hate to be the bearer of bad news but, i wouldn't even put one goldfish in that size tank. it's way too small for goldfish. also, goldfish have very large bioloads.

Keep all your filters on all the time.

They will nibble at some plants, won't touch others, and completely destroy others. So it depends on the goldfish and the plant type.

No more fish in there. These guys' bodies alone will get about fist size.

More types of food. Sinking pellets will be the best to prevent swim bladder disease. New Life Spectrum is arguably the best brand on the market and they make a sinking goldfish pellet. Tetra makes a sinking mini stick for goldfish. A couple other brands also make sinking pellets. Between these and some live plants to munch on they should be happy.

Well, i'm planning on giving the goldfish to the aquarium when they get to big.
I thought goldfish where easier to maintain than tropical fish, sounds like its the other way around.

they're not easier, they're not harder. that is all species dependant
