I just have to say that this is a great site! My husband and I just got a 150 gallon freshwater aquarium and we are so excited about it. We are not really novices but we have never had an aquarium anywhere close to this large so we are really excited.

I really have to give a lot of credit to our local Petsmart. They have been wonderful and have given us great advice. Everything they have told us is exactly the same advice I see given here.

I look forward to exploring this site and learning lots more great stuff!

I hope they told you one of the most important things.........cycle that tank doing the fishless cycling method. This will save you a lot of flustration, loss of fish and lots of water changes.

I would die for a 150 gallon tank. You are soooo lucky!!

Thanks, Hobbs. They did tell me that we would have to wait to put fish in. We waited and put Cycle in the water and last night we added our first group of fish. So far everything has been great.

The 150 gallons is really nice but I have to say that we failed to take into account the cost of filters and pumps and gravel and such for an aquarium that size. We had not allowed nearly enough in the budget and I thought I was going to fall out when we got the total but it's going to be worth it.
