My Severum has been tearing up my java fern, so I gave lettuce to munch on instead. Then, this morning I see my Severum take a huge big out of one of my moss barbs! I knew that because I liked the green ones, they would have the most trouble. I have moved the green tiger barbs over to the small tank for now. I don't think the barb is going to make it, it was a pretty bad attack.

I'm sorry about the fish...the severum probably thought it was a plant due to it's colour?.....Mine adore eating their tank plants...so I have a variety of real and fake plants there..the real ones are the very cheap sort as I have to replace them on a regular basis...but it is good for their diet...

Hope your fishie makes it...

The Moss barb spent most of yesterday in a net in the 27g. He perked up later in the day, so I let him out. He's hanging around with the other moss barb for now. He's swimming fine and eating, so he might make it if there is no secondary illness. I moved my new corkscrew vals into my 27g, because the severum thought it was a new salad bar. I also noticed he's eaten all the new growth on my anubias! I guess my 27g is turning into a planted tetra tank.

Now you know why most cichlids aren't kept in planted tanks. What they don't eat they'll usually uproot when rescaping the substrate.

I just got through cleaning both tanks and my Daughter's Birthday Betta. I plant to spend the next hour or two redecorating both tanks. I am going to move all the plants to the 27g and re-scape the 55g to be more "cichlid like". Will the barbs be ok in a none planted tank?
