I have 2 male sunset dwarf gouramis in my 30 (see rest of tank mates in siggy). When I first brought them home they were quite active (that was about 1 month ago or so). Now they hide and one of them seems to have it's colors fading. Any ideas why?

Your tank is a little bit overstocked, so when they have the schooling fish out, they are probably afraid of all the other fish.

You tnak is not overstocked IMO so thats not the problem. I suspect your Betta. Was it purchased more recently than the gouramis and how long was it with them before they started hiding? Do you see your Betta flare at them at all?

My betta was in the tank before the gouramis came home. If anything they pick on my betta and nip his fins so that is why I am moving him out.

Yeah, I would say they don't like the betta too. See what happens after you move it. It could be that the other fish in the tank are too active for them, so they sulk in the corner. Let us know how it goes...

Too the best of my knowledge they are both males.
