View Full Version : Three Spot Gourami changing color.

hiii!! I m marina and i have some Three spot gourami in my fish pot.One pair is of Golden color and the other is of Blue color. Recently i noticed that one of my golden gourami is changing its color to Black at the tail area. I m very worried about it. Other gouramis are just fine. Plzz i need ur guidance whether changing of color is a natural process or it means that my fish is ill or something. I have lost one of my Blue colored three spot gourami recently and it was also changed into black color at the time of her death. I m very much concerned abt the other one, as i dnt want to lose her. Please help me.

Hi Marina. Gouramis do change color sometimes when they are under stress, mating, etc.

But black doesn't sound normal to me. Can you tell us about your tank, and have you checked your water parameters? I'm sure someone here can help you if you can give us some more information.

Black blood disease is very evident in gourami's. This is from being in a tank that has not been properly cycled. Make sure you have 0 ammonia and 0 nitrites and LOW nitrates.

My gouramis darken in colour as well but not to an absolute BLACK shade. Their markings just darken up when they're agitated with each other.

I have a fish pot not a tank. And that pot is suitable to hold two pairs of Gourami fish. The pot right now needs cleaning as it has turned dirty. What more information you need frm me????

Ok, you tell us if you can:

how big is the pot?
what kind of filtration do you have?
do you have a water test kit?
are there other fish in the pot?

My fish pot doesnt have any filtaration and neither i have any sort of water test kit. And there is no oxygen machine in my fish pot. There are only gorami's in my fish pot. And my fish pot is of medium sized. But i use Filter water at the time of changing the water. Will there be still a problem??
