My hubby and I set up a 20g tank he gave me for Christmas yesterday. I was wondering what type of fish can safely be put in with my Betta, Spike?
Please don't suggest guppies. Been there done that many moons ago. *LOL*

Happy New Year!

Welcome.

This is an uncycled tank until you have grown bacteria in the gravel. You will get high levels of ammonia and nitrites which will kill your fish.

What I would do if I were you would be to move that Betta into a large vase or fish bowl for now, do a fishless cycle and when it's done, you can add the fish you have selected.

You never know about a Betta. Some can do well with others and others need to be kept alone. Never add two males to same tank, as well.

But first, please read up on cycling a tank and also about fishless cycling. Very important!!

The Free b-book in the left column is a good start. This will help you on your way.
