I have some wood in my tank that is growing some very pretty algae. Sorry, no battery in my camera but it's growing in tuffs and almost looks like featherly grass. I like it actually but wondered if it has a name and is it ok to leave it?

Thanks

I had to steal someones picture but it kinda looks like this. I hope I can keep it since it seems to grow better than my plants. :)

I think it looks pretty cool, and that picture is almost like moss and not algae. It's a bit more filtration for your tank. I've got just the start of some on my wood and I hope that it grows. Jess has got some growing on her wood in her big tank and it looks incredibly cool!

Congrats Hobbs!!!! It is a Chlorophyta Algae... a sign of a very healthy balanced tank...this is the kind of algae YOU WANT <huraaah> Specifically it is the Cladophora Algae I believe.

thank God. From the description i was hoping it wasn't BBA but the picture confirmed that it wasn't.

I didn't know there was a "good" algae...just the ones i end up getting i guess.

Today is the day i take my gigantic piece of wood out of my tank and give it a scrub down. Move a lot of things around. And give the tank an overhaul.
