I am setting up a 5 gallon tank to place my betta in and I want to add a few snails to be buddies for him and to help keep the algae down. Does anyone have any recomendations for me?

Black mystery snail but I would only get one because snails multiply quickly

Not too worried bout the babies as I have some oscars at my "serivce". LOL!

A mystery snail would work fine. I had one with my betta in a 5 gal.

Ok I got a black mystery snail, so now I am wondering do I need to supliment his diet at all with some special food or is he good with just leftovers?

Leftovers and algae is fine, buthe'll be very happy if you supplement with veggies:) I'd not recommendt algae wafers as my betta ate that until he was ready to burst, but he wouldn't touch the veggies.
