some of you may know that the bf's female betta was not doing well and we were not sure what was wrong. Just a few minutes ago, he came out of the room to let me know she had passed!! :(

most of the bettas in this country are shipped in from the orient, where for themost part they are kept in quite hideous conditions...the mortality rate is extremely high for those shipped in.

Quite often I have walked into a pet shop with a tank full of females..to see them dead or dying...the males are a little better off...butnot by much...

More often than not, bettas are bought but only survive a further week or two..NOT for lack of the new owners trying their best for the fish, but due to the lack of proper care previously...it just happens.
