View Full Version : So i've been thinking......
First off, I hate when I think, I always get these stupid ideas, but oh well, here is one that popped into my head when I woke up from a dream that I was on the AC lol. :hmm3grin2orange:
I wanted to become what you would call an "expert"? On one type of fish catogory, but I'm not sure which one, and what ill need to know. I was thinking gouramis, Mbuna cichlids or rams, since there two of my favorite fish. Anywho, what things do you think I will need to know, to sort of acieve this status?
Sorry for wasting any time

Well in Rams you'll be an expert in no time with only the Bolivian and German LOL I'm not really sure what classifies you as an expert...mmmhhhh..nope no idea...
But keeping a lot of fish from one genera and breeding with them is a great way to get a great understanding of the fish....keeping them and watching their behavior over time will beat any book.
Cichlids is really broad... why not something specific like Dwarf Cichlids...there are plenty and Rams also fall into that category as well as all the Apistogramma etc.
Ok, I think rams will be it then, I do have the bolivian hence the avatar, and if possible, I may be able to get a GBR if it works in my stocking. Unfortunatly no room for the aspistos tho. So I think Ill do a lot of reasearch on that, anyways, ty fish!
Do you think a GBR would fit in with
Two blue gouramis,
Five danios,
One RTS?

Cocoa's got skillz.
By normal standards, it doesn't take much to be an expert. If you worked at an lfs, pretty much all you need to know is how to set up a tank, and which fish will kill which and people consider you an expert.
On AllExperts freshwater section, it isn't too hard. Mostly set up and stocking questions, some disease questions. I often just copy and paste answers.
However, on a fish forum like this you need to know virtually about your fish, your fish's tank environment, and your fish's natural environment everything to be an expert. As well as your fish's tank mates and fry.
Yeah forums are hard lol, anywho, im studying everything I can lol
