I have a 75 gallon tank moderately planted with some anubias, crypts, java ferns and some hornwort for shade. It currently stocked with 8 congo tetras, 7 corydoras sterbai, and 9 cherry barbs (plan on getting 3 or 4 more tetra species and another small barb school). All water parameters look good (ammonia 0, nitrites 0, blah blah blah) except for the ph, which is currently at 7.9. Should I start slowly lowering it to neutral during water changes or just leave it and make sure it doesn't get any higher. The fish have been in there for about 3 weeks and are showing no signs of ill health.

thanks

Remember that stability, not the actual number, is the key. If it is stable don't mess with it.

The only time I believe pH should be altered is for the relatively few fish that absolutely must have a certain range of pH. Even then though, most fish are very adaptable to a wide range of conditions.

i have to agree with GM and Gem if nothing seem wrong with it dont mess with it, my tap water is naturally very high but that has never really adversely affected my fish so i dont bother with it, just monitor

The ph has been the same every time I measured it, and the fish look good, so I won't mess around with it. Thanks for your help.
