Question about my rena xp3 on my aquarium.

I have a 60g aquarium with a rena xp3 hooked up to it.I have 4 discus and a few plants and the tanks bottom gets dirty really quikly.Right now the flow is turned down a little should i turn it up.Is it better to turn it up for that the filter sucks in more junk.

how often do you clean the filter, is there a chance that it is full of crud, and not flowing properly?

I also used the spray bar on mine, and that creates a better curent in the tank, and the filter sucks up more poo.

My fish are also rather messy (goldfish) abd my filter does a okay job on a 75 with 5 fish.
