we have several 10 gallon tanks with dividers and bettas -- is there any snail that could go in with them?? If so what do they eat??

Most snails are fine with betta's - snails are super cleaners and will clean up any waste food, dying plant matter en even have a shuffle through the molm that builds up. You can feed them extra on veggies or bottom feeder tablets. I wouldn't go for the usual 'free' snails that come with plants as some betta's have developed a taste for them :19: But any other commercial bought snail will be fine.

Mystery snails are good, but they are poop machines so you need good filtration. They eat algae and leftover fish food, as well as algae wafers and veggies.

Would 1 snail be ok in a 5g with 1 betta?

I have MTS with the betta, in fact the snails have outlived a couple fish over the years. They have even survived months w/out any feeding (when there wasn't a fish in there) by eating algae and the odd dead leaf from the live plants. They do seem to grow a bit faster when fed regularly.
