Electric yellow labs are more a omnivorous species than herbivorous species, adapted more toward consuming microcrustaceans than algae-grazing. However, even the most herbivorous mbuna species will display opportunistic feeding tendencies.
In the wild, the algae-grazing mbuna species (which the yellow lab is not) will consume microfauna along with the plant matter they eat.

:hmm3grin2orange: they are omnivores...i.o.w. they eat plant as well as animal material....
try feeding them some blood worm once of twice a week...frozen or freeze dried is fine...although I personally prefer feeding the frozen to my fish...I sometimes just pop the frozen piece into their tank..or if I'm not too lazy...I pop it into a tumbler of tank water so that it can thaw out..and then pour it into their tank...they love it.
