Jewel Cichlid stuck inside filter intake tube

Two days home from the pet store, I came home and noticed my Jewel Cichlid was missing from the aquarium. I found it completely inside the small water intake tube for the filter.

It is back in the tank and I have covered the tube to prevent this from happening again. It was quite sluggish and was lying on the gravel after being removed from the tube. Can I do anything to save it or will it soon die?
