If you have ever experienced dropsy, you know the impossibility of curing it . . . until now.
10 days ago my betta was suffering severe dropsy, I mean like gonna die in a few hours kind of dropsy. I did something different and it worked! He is an ancient fish as bettas go, 6 or 7 years old, maybe 8, I've lost exact count, but he is at least 6 and still going after looking like a bleached pine cone for 3 days! I pulled him out of his bowl and put him in a glass bowl (casserole bowl no less, I was in such a hurry to save him I didn't care) filled with only distilled water. I changed the water after 2 days and refilled the bowl with distilled water again. On the third day, I put him in a new clean bowl with clean rocks and 2/3 distilled water, 1/3 Brita filtered water and had to leave for northern CA for nine days. He looked better by day 2 and even better by day 3 and when I got home 9 days later, he was his old bulldog looking self again and eating fine. WOW! Just wanted to share this with everyone I can, sorry if my format is wrong.
