I was in my lfs yesterday and saw some dwarf gourami. They were not blue or red flame.
They were a creamy white color with silver stripes. They were really pretty. I've never seen them before. And of course, they were not labelled by the store as a specific type.
Anyone have an idea?

Sounds like a juvenile Colisa fasciata...

Could be. There was no coloring on the fins though. You think what I saw is the juvenile form of the one in the picture? Do you know what this one is called in layman's terms?

They are known as Banded Gourami or Giant Gourami... the above pic is a juvenile but then again fish in fish stores don't always show their colors due to stress etc. It's the only gourami at the moment I can think of with silver stripes (when young)

Hmm. I know of giant gourami- they are giant because they are technically dwarfs. I've only seen them in the blue with orange stripes combo, and a little on the chunky side. I'll go back to the lfs this week and get one for my tank, and see what happens!
