To anyone looking for a heater. DO NOT get a Whisper. Maybe you one of you guys have had luck with yours but mine is a piece of junk. two days in a row ive come home to my tank temp being over 90 degrees. One of my albino cories have died from this.

Both days in the morning i checked the temp and turned my heater DOWN. Both days it went in the opposite direction. I dont think that makes too much sence to me. And i know for sure i was turning it the right way.

I will be getting a new heater soon so i wont have to put up with this anymore. Im going to check into getting this one returned or sent back to the company.

Is the heater in the correct position? I mean, the water level is over the mark? Is the heater in the full current of water?
I noticed a thing: I have 2 different heaters, a cheap one, from China, and an Elite one, for both I have to set the temp 2 degrees below desired temp.
For example, I need the temp to be 24C, I set the heater to 22C.
If you get so big variations, is maybe because you got a faulty piece of equipment, this could happen to anyone... Could be dameged during transport... It's not allways manufacturer's fault... Only sometimes.

if the heater is not set up to be aligned with the water level mark on the heater it causes a lot of problems but i have heard about bad whisper's as well

My newest heater has no markings at all. Just the dial that you turn and get to "guess" the setting. I get the water where I want it and turn the dial back one notch at a time. I hate it tho. I want to set the thing and know that's what the water will be.

mine is just a turn dial like hobbs. no markings except for a plus and a minus. also I have the water up the the water marking. So i think its just a bad heater.
