I know I seen a post I think yesterday and I cant find it today. It was about is it ok to pet your fish. Well there was different opinions on if it was ok or not. For anyone that did not see the post she wasnt petting like you would a dog or a cat but just a little bit with her finger because they would come up to her for it. Anyways like I said some people said its ok others said no way not at all. But today I had my hand in the tank with platys, balloon mollies, and guppies trying to net fry so I could put them in a nursery tank well to my shock some of my fish were touching me. At first I thought it was an accident then I seen they were doing it over and over they would swim right up to my hand and light brush against me swim away and come back again. Now they hardly touched me but still I cant believe how trusting they are with me... Thank you for listening

I just love the trust they have. I know they know I am the one thats feeds them because everytime I go near the tank they come up to the glass and when I have to put my hand in their they swim around it but for them to come up to me and touch me just made me feel all good inside. Thank you for posting

funnyfish...some of my fish are so tame you won't believe it...I have two bettas that are so tame, that if I put my hand into their tank and cup it slightly...they actually swim into my hand nad half lie there...as if they are nestling in my hand...and one of them loves to swim between my outstretched fingers, weaving a path in and out....*S*

as to the live bearers..yes...mine do the same...anybody can go past their tank and they pay them no attention...but when it is me...they also come to the glass....and when I put my hand in they also brush up against me..I dont use a net when I have to remove any from the tank...I use my cupped hand...and then put them into their plastic bag (the females go into a special pregnant tank to have their babies for the most part).

I used to have a common pleco that loved to be touched. She would swim vertically so you could rub her tummy.

thats awesome! I have a pleco and he doesn't want anything to do with my hand.. well, he's getting better but still usually swims away. Question, do all livebearers act this way? I'm soon getting another set up for breeding swordtails and it would be really cool if they were that nice. :o)
