I just 10 black neons for my 55 gallon tank. I figured that since they were a little bit bigger then the regular neons and having that many they would be able to school and stay safe. I have 3 fire dwarfs, 4 long finned zebras, and 3 leopord corys. I went to check on my new fish yesterday and 2 of them were stuck to my filter and another 2 were laying on the gravel. It looks as if they were nipped to death. I figured that it was the gouramis being the biggest of the fish but they seem clam with the other fish. Is this something that anyone else has seen. I plan on getting the last 6 out of there ASAP. But just wanted some feedback. Did I make a bad choice??

it's hard to say whether or not that's a good combo. definitely keep your eye open for any aggression from the gourami.

Like Jeff said, this is hard to say. Was your tank cycled? Please check your water parameters for ammonia and nitrites. They may have died due to water conditions and then were nawed on by the others.

If it's your gouramis, then you would know. An agressive gourami will generally be aggressive all the time and not just when you aren't looking. If they weren't bothering the others before, then I doubt they were doing it when you weren't watching them. Just be sure to keep a close eye on their behavior in case anything has changed and sometimes you just get unlucky with some bad fish that die for unknown reasons.
