One of my diamond tetras has a case of what appears to be pop-eye and I have been trying like mad to get it out of the tank to put in a hospital tank and treat accordingly. If push comes to shove and I'm not successful, would it be a bad thing to medicate the entire tank? As this is my first ill fish, I don't want to make everyone sick by treating them with an anti-fungal agent, but I don't want this fish to get worse. From what I have read I would be okay, but would rather be safe than sorry. I believe the medicine or chemical treatment is malachite green with cristalized violet or crystal violet (translated from French and Dutch). Thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!

nope, as long as the meds wont harm your biological media, its fine. most people have a hospital so the disease doesnt spread and they wont need as much meds in a small hospital, but treating the whole tank is fine since popeye is not contagious

The medication will stress the healthy fish, Fins. It'd be like dosing you with a barrage of anti-biotics when you aren't ill.

Thanks, Dave, I haven't done it yet and the thought of it makes me nervous which is why I posted. May have to drain the tank quite a bit and try that way to get the bugger out and into the hospital tank with the GBR. I'll mull this over today. Thanks, both of you for the feedback.
