I have a 55 gallon with
1 pleco
3 tux platys
2 MM platys
3 fancy guppies
1 snail
2 ballon mollys.

I asked in another area what would be alittle bigger than all the little guys and maybe more likely to hang out in the middle of the tank

I was rec gouramis.....
I have looked them up and like the dwarfs I love the blue one and flame one if I added one of each would that be my limit should I add more, less, diff kind. Can I have a few males so I need females? Ok so I really need help so I know what I am doing..... This is the only place ( ac forum ) that I have found such great advice. I really give up on LFS with the info the give so far everyone has sent us home with bad bad info.....

I think you will be alright adding a blue and a flame dwarf to your tank. As long as there is enough room for each of them to have a bit of a territory, which by the sounds of your stocking you do have, they should be fine. Two males can get a bit cranky in a small area but with your tank it shouldn't be a problem. Do you have any plants for them to make their own?
Re: males and females. With the dwarfs only the males are brightly coloured. The females are usually a lot more grey. And I haven't seen a LFS stock females - only males.
Good luck - I think your stocking will look good!!

I have two male flame and blue dwarf gouramis in my 10 gallon, and they actually paired up even though they are both guys. Anyways, make sure you have a lot of floating plants. They like to feel secure in a floating plant...

Some people think that the swarf gouramis are really cranky and non-social. I just think they have to be comfortable in their environment.

Well if I have one of each ( a blue and a flame ) could I add a few females is that possible or would that cause issues?

I follow directions well.... LOL

I don't know how you would go with a female if you had both. I've never seen females, or heard from anyone with a female so honestly I don't know... Hopefully someone on here has had females!!!

Hi,
I would personally add more than, two since they can get a bit picky with each-other. I would say three males.
