Christmas is coming and in past years I have found that I get the gifts I want if I am very specific. I usually ask for fish books because I know that if I give an ISBN number, title and author I will usually get what I want. This year I think there are two cichlid books that really stand out.

The Cichlid Fishes of West Africa is a great book by Dr. Anton Lamboj. It is the best I have seen for learning about the often overlooked fish from West Africa. It was published in 2004 and the ISBN number is 392881933X. I know it is available from some specialty dealers and also from Amazon at Cichlid Fishes of West Africa at amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/392881933X/qid=1134177627/sr=11-1/ref=sr_11_1/103-0027246-1991009?n=283155)

The other book I am really excited about is a book about South American dwarf cichlids titled “Mergus Cichlid Atlas I”. This book was originally published in German and is an amazing book about these neat little fishes. It is huge with about 1,300 pages. Again I think you can get this from specialty dealers but I know it is at Amazon at cichlid atlas at amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/3882440562/qid=1134177757/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/103-0027246-1991009?s=books&v=glance&n=283155)

These are the top two books on my list. How about you? What books would you like to see under the tree?
