I have a few female balloon belly mollies in a tank without any salt. They've been there for a few months and I know they can survive without salt, but will it be beneficial for them if I do add it? I also have guppies in the tank. Can they deal with the salt or no?

It is completely unnecessary. No need to add salt.

Mollies actually thrive in brackish water. They will be fine in freshwater, but I've heard people say they grow bigger and look more magnificent in brackish water. Guppies can also live in brackish water, so if you want, go for it.

Most live-bearers originate from areas with brackish water, and indeed do tend to thrive when live bearer salt it introduced into their environement. However, most of these fish today are bred in fresh water only, so no...there is no dire need to add salt ....:c2:
