ha!! they caught me again..

I tend to take out my heavily pregnant livebearers and put them into a maternity tank..it is just so much easier to control the frye...

But every now and then, one fishie just jumps the gun and beats me to it..such as the case today.

I heppened to see my live bearers all *gasping* at the top of the tank between the floating plants *this is a heavily planted tank just for such occasions with some floating plants on top*..and when I went to see what their problem was....saw lots ...lots...of tiny litte wriggly babies..

I ran fro my trusty fishnet...and a plastic bag..and started scooping up babies..as many as I could find..and promplty put them into the maternity tank..together with other small frye doing their daily business there...

AS for those that decided to go in amongst the plants at the bottom...well...they will just have to make the best of it..but the livebearer adults are out on the hunt at the moment...but few always make it and grow too big to be eaten....

*You GOT to get around counting your frye and juvenile livebearers some time Gemmie old girl*....

One of the guppy females...I have quite a few...and they tend to rotate in the main tank...one lot are usually in a maternity tank becomming mamas...and the un-pregnant or not-so pregnant lot are in the community tank...I have quite a few females...as I noticed my male guppies got a little vicious when the did not have enough female companionship to keep them occupied...

hehe..that is the interesting world of live-bearers for you....but generally speaking...the females have this huge dark area towatds the back...*s*...when they are pregnant..sometimes the area is still small...and she pops..
