Hi I am new to this forum :)
Recently I got three Balloon Mollies (2 females and 1 male)
After I brought it home, one of the females seemed to have a much bigger belly compared to the other female and the male, so I was wondering if she was pregnant? =)
She seems to like a certain corner in the tank too
Here is a picture of my female balloon molly:
(Sorry for the bad picture and angle, it's so hard to take a still picture xD)

Also, I have noticed that the male takes much more interest in this female compared to the other one, anyone know why?
Thanks for the help! :)

if she has a largish dark patch towards her cloaka then chaces are she id probably heavily pregnant and will be dropping frye pretty soon...in which case the male would be hanging around for a free meal...but also to impregnate her again as soon as possible...spreading his genes as it were...

*Update*
Today when I got home I found that the female is becoming more aggresive then usual, chasing all the other balloon mollies away until they start to hide from her whenever she swims near them...and when I looked at the bottom of the tank I found a dead fry which she later on ate..:(. But the thing is, there was only one fry, so I was thinking if she ate the other ones?..but then her stomach still seems to be very big and still has a dark patch..anyone have a clue what happened?
Thanks
Im sure she had more then one fry, they had probably all got eaten. If the mollie is being overly agressive, try to rearangge the tank so that there is a few designated spots for her and the others to hide.
She may not have had all her babies yet, it can sometimes take awhile if there are a lot of babies. If you plan on keeping the fry i'd watch her carefully for the next couple hours to make sure there are none left or get a breeding trap and put her in it for the next day or so, then remove her when they're born. If you don't plan on keeping them then just leave her in the tank like normal and she'll most likely eat all her young. Good luck!

*Update again*
Later on today when I was feeding my fish, I saw another fry at the corner of the tank =D! It was so cute ^^! I think the female is not finished giving birth yet...so I'll wait for some more time and then move the babies to their own tank. So happy right now :19:

Hi Macoroni_Cheese,
What i would do is get a floating plant for the main tank, when the fry are born they will normaly go for the top of the tank, we had guppy fry recently again and saved 34 all in all, just because we had a floating plant, you will probably find that the female will go up into the plant to deliver as well, all our mollies do that!!!
Hope this helps good luck.

im sure someone will give you more info on this, but i believe when mollies get pregnant they drop their fry over a 6 month period, about 30-60 fry every month or something.
i have mainly mollies in my FW tank, and there is allways a new fry every few weeks or so.
as another thread mentioned on this topic and i quote what i said:
"at the end of the day its the natural balance of things!
its a fish eat fish world these days!
Darren "
with mollies dropping non stop, (the horney buggers) you cant keep all of them, enless u have untold tanks and want just mollies of course, or want to sell them. so i just let mine do it naturally. once i have "enough" fish for my tank.
and a few do still make it to adulthood, keeping my tank fully stocked, but not over stocked!

Ohh I see, well today I found another fry in the main tank :19:
Today my female balloon molly has been staying in one place and keeps squirming, does anyone know why? Is she going to give birth again?

Well i feel that real plants are best as the babies like real more than fake,
I just picked up some floaters from my LFS for free, which grow very fast and bunch nicely together, i couldn't tell you what the plant is called though, here is a pic of the plant i use in our main tank for the fry to hide in someone may be able to tell you what plant it is.

Our mollies tend to give birth over about a week, they keep them selves to there selves till they have done giving birth, i would think that she is still going to give birth to some more, but as a note when she has finished she will look thiner, but she will be pregnant again straight after, as they save sperm for many months after, keep an eye on her when she has finished giving birth also as she may well be weak as some of our have been, make sure you give her a good balaced diet very high in protein at least 50% in the food.
