I folks, new to the site. In my 29 gallon brackish tank, I have 1 male molly (white lyretail sailfin balloon), and 4 females (1 wild-type, 1 orange lyretail balloon, 1 dalmation creamcicle, and 1 pink dalmation balloon "Miss Piggy"). 1 GS puffer to keep the broods down, and if I want to keep any of the babies I net them out and put them in my 3 gallon brackish hospital tank.
I have another wild-type female, but my male will not tolerate her. If I put her in the tank with him, or move him to her tank, he behaves very aggressively toward her, chassing her around the tank until she hides, then hunting for her to chase her some more. This seems odd, especially since the other wid-type female is his favorite sex-partner, and he can't seem to get enough of her. Originally, I put them all in the same tank, but then he started this, so I moved her. She dropped her brood in the new tank after I moved her, and is doing well, but he still attacks her any time I try putting them together.
Note: She is a little bigger than the other wild-type female, and has a very small (almost unnoticeable) swordtail spike on the bottom of her tailfin.
Any thoughts?
